Compassion

Happy Birthday Findhorn

Compassion

On the 17th November the Findhorn Foundation celebrated its 40th birthday. Although I was unable to be there on the day, I went up for the RP week, which is the week before the celebrations.
What is an RP? A Resource Person. And what is the Findhorn Foundation? In my words, it is a centre of love, encouragement, positive change, commitment, possibilities, personal and spiritual growth and much more.

Located Just half an hour’s drive from Inverness, on the Moray Firth, is this “centre of spiritual service in co-creation with nature, encompassing education and community.” Their words.

I am always amazed to meet people at Findhorn from all over the world and yet so many people in Britain have not heard of it. Well it is my job to make it more widely known – that’s one of the tasks of an RP - so here is a little information and a web-site for you.

“ The Findhorn Foundation is at the heart of one of the best-known intentional communities in the world and is a major international centre of adult education, and of personal and spiritual transformation.

….Fourteen thousand people a year visit us for tours, workshops and conferences. In our daily lives , through our educational programmes and through our work and relationships, we aim to create a safe space in which we can support each other to be honest, loving and conscious in everything we say and do. We encourage personal and collective spiritual growth and a deeper sense of connection to the sacred in ourselves, to each other and to the environment that surrounds us.”

( from the Winter/ Spring brochure)

I first went to Findhorn to participate in “Experience Week” in Sept.’92. This is their introductory programme, and it changed my life. I became aware of the immense healing power of love and I opened my heart and mind to deeper experiences of this unconditional love.

Fired with enthusiasm I began my first workshop the week after I returned from Findhorn. Since then I have attended more than a dozen workshops and trained as a group facilitator there.

Living in community is not always easy and I have watched the Foundation move through difficult and challenging times. But the Angel of Findhorn watches over them too and breathes love, joy, patience, strength and many other qualities to help them pull through.

You can receive a daily angel and guidance from Eileen Caddy, one of the three founders, by logging on to the Findhorn Foundation web-site:

And if you would like to know more about Findhorn you might like to attend an introductory evening which I hold in my home – a half-hour video, questions and answers and a very warm welcome!
